Ahmedabad, earlier this month, a Woman sub-inspector was arrested under Prevention of Corruption Act for accepting bribe from a person accused in rape case. She has allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs 20 lakh through a middleman.
In the case, Kenal Shah is the managing director of a crop solution company in Ahmedabad. He is accused in two separate rape cases. According to the FIR, two female employees of a private company has accused Shah in the rape case, one of which was under the woman sub-inspector of Ahmedabad-West Mahila police.
An FIR has been booked against the 26 years old Woman sub-inspector and in-charge of Mahila Police Station (West), Shweta Jadeja, for allegedly demanding Rs 35 lakh from the brother of Kenal Shah, of which she has accepted 20 lakh through a middleman.
The FIR lodged by city crime branch under Prevention of Corruption Act against Shweta Jadeja for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe, later she was suspended and presented before special court.
In the police investigation, while exploring her call details, revealed her close relationship with assistant police commissioner posted in Gandhinagar. Police has also collected their messages. Police is also suspecting that, due to the relationship between them, she was made in-charge of the women Police Station at the age of just 26.
Police is also investigation the connection between Shweta and Devendra Odedara (brother-in-law of Shweta Jadeja).
“According to police, another case of rape filed by a different victim against the same accused was being probed by assistant commissioner of police (Women crime) Mini Josef and its investigation had been completed.” Indian Express published.
