Bettiah (Bihar), a girl used to cut off the electricity of the entire village in order to hide the relationship and meet her lover without any hindrance. The entire village was plunged into darkness for the love.
The villagers were angry with the obstruction made by the girl, because the incidence of theft increased in the area due to darkness caused by the regular cut-off of the electricity supply. The girl has been identified as Preeti and the boy as Rajkumar.
The villagers also complained about the frequent power cut in the area to the department, but the problem remained same, so the frustrated villagers decided to find the reason. One day the villagers came out of their houses as soon as the power supply stopped.
Cutting off electricity led to Theft Incidents
A villager, Govinda Chaudhary told TOI that “Preeti used to cut off the electricity of the village every night due to which many thefts were reported in the village. We were troubled by that girl,”
Caught couple in objectionable State
One fateful day, when an outsider boy, Rajkumar, arrived in the village to meet Preeti, she once again tampered with the electricity supply. Unaware that, the villagers, who are tired of these frequent disruptions, and waiting to seize the opportunity. They caught Preeti and Rajkumar in an objectionable state, red-handed in the darkness of the night.
Rajkumar faced the wrath of the villagers and was subjected to a severe beating while Preeti was constantly trying to save him. A video of the incident surfaced on social media.
Video went viral on Social Media
The incident garnered attention from social media, as a video of the beating went viral. The police arrested the boys who were beating Rajkumar but the matter was settled between both the families.
Following the incident and with the consent of both families, the villagers decided to get Preeti and Rajkumar married. Their wedding took place at a nearby temple following proper rituals.
