Gujrat: Woman Police Inspector arrested for sextortion by conspiring honey trap against rich men, later attempts to commit suicide

Ahmadabad, woman Police Inspector arrested for sextortion, allegedly involved in honey-trap racket. She has been booked under the charges of conspiring to extortion as her name popped up during scrutiny of the existing FIR records. The police found multiple complaints from the same complainant under the same circumstances and all were got settled.

The accused police inspector, Geeta Pathan stationed as the PI and she was former in-charge of Mahila Police Station (East) in Ahmedabad. The woman PI has been arrested on May 13 (this year) after a three-month-long investigation. After her arrest, she consumed sanitiser in the night same day, then she was immediately taken to the Civil Hospital where her condition is reported to be stable.

Geeta had teamed with the four accused, Radhika alias Unnati Modi, Jitendra Modi, Jinal alias Jahanvi, and Bipin Upadhyay. The four used to honey trap businessman by initiating a conversation on social media. Firstly, they used to explore social media platforms and begin interacting with rich businessmen. The four then used to invite them to a scheduled location, preferably any hotel or some isolated place, to meet in person.

At the meeting spot, they start threatening the businessmen to levy POSCO and rape charges after which they used to lodge complaint in the same police station where PI Geeta was stationed. The police team also observed that, after registering the complaint, PI Geeta starts pressuring and harassing the victim men to settle the case.

In light of the recent findings, it is found that the extortion racket had managed to dupe many businessmen, and cumulative of which is expected to be 26.5 lakh. All four members including Geeta, have been arrested in the extortion case. It is shocking to see the police in-charge involved in sextortion, especially when she holds such a great position to protect citizens from harassment.

Police said that, “they found that multiple FIRs registered by the same complainant (accused in the case) with the similar circumastances at the Mahila Police Station (East), then their probe turned towards PI Geeta Pathan”.

“After it was found that many of these FIRs were settled by payment of money by the victims, we started investigating the role of police personnel of the Mahila Police Station (East) and found that PI Geeta Pathan was part of the racket. She revealed that she used to give orders to her subordinate staff at the police station to lodge FIRs at the behest of the complaints of the accused group,” the officer said as quoted by The Indian Express.

The officer also said that, “She then used to call the businessmen at the police station and threaten them of dire consequences from the FIR lodged against them and pressure them to pay money for settlement. It has come to light that the accused group had managed to extort Rs 26.5 lakh from various people”.
