West Bengal: Purulia court sentenced the mother and her lover to death for killing a 3-year-old girl
The incident happened in the last week of July 2016. A girl child was admitted to Sadar Hospital in Purulia, but when the doctors of the hospital examined the girl, they were shocked. Wounds were found all over the body, swelling near the chest, swelling of hands and feet, even deep wounds on the genitals.
Purulia court has ordered to hang mother Mangala and her lover Sanatan for killing a three-year-old girl with a needle in the Purulia needle case. Purulia court has ordered to hang both of them on Tuesday. After that incident, in the year 2016, the girl’s mother Mangala and Mangla’s lover Sanatan went into hiding in Uttar Pradesh. Later they were arrested.
On Monday, the court had reserved the verdict in this case. The court had said that it would give exemplary punishment. The judge said that where the mother’s lap is considered the safest place for the child. At the same time, the three-and-a-half-year-old daughter was threatened by the mother.
As a mother, Mangala failed to protect her child. so, this exemplary punishment was given by the fast-track court of Purulia.

Police of Purulia police station had filed a charge sheet in the court on 12 September 2016. After a long trial of four years, on Friday, 18 September 2021, both were convicted in the Purulia district court in the court of Ramesh Kumar Pradhan. Some people called it black magic and some of them said that they are victims of sexual perversions. Sanatan was charged with rape under section 327, section 37 of the 2012 POCSO Act, physical and mental abuse of a child, attempt to murder under section 306, and murder under section 302. On knowing about the incident, Sanatan fled to Uttar Pradesh. He was living like a saint in the local Radha Krishna temple in Renukote Pipri village. The police had arrested him from there on 22 July 2016.

Wounds were found all over the body, swelling near the chest, swelling of the extremities, even on the genitals. He immediately contacted the police and ChildLine. At that time the police did not give much importance but ChildLine started the investigation. The child’s X-ray has been done and that X-ray plate showed seven large needles inside the child’s body. The child was also sexually assaulted.
