New CBI chief Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, a perfect blend of all round investigation and administrative supervision

IPS Subodh kumar Jaiswal, A 1985 batch Indian police officer of Maharashtra cadre has got the responsibility of Indias top crime investigating agency, CBI. Currently jaiswal is serving as director general of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

Monday, the three member committee comprising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Justice of India (CJI) N.V. Ramana and opposition leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury shortlisted Jaiswal as director for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Media sources said that YC modi and Rakesh Asthana were those two who were top post holders.

According to the media sources, Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ramana pointed out, that no officer with less than six months to retirement is illigeble to be appointed as police chief. The CJI refferred the top courts guidelines in Prakash Singh v Union of India case which was passed by former CJI Ranjan Gogoi on March 13, 2019. Due to the top court guidelines, Asthana and YC modi got out from the list. CJI Ramana principle was also backed by Adhir Ranjan.

Tuesday, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment of Subodh Kumar Jaiswal as the director of CBI, based on the selection committee led by the PM Modi. IPS Subodh Kumar Jaiswal will be leading this top post of CBI for a period of next two years.

IPS jaiswal has also served as Additional secretary of Research & Analysis Wing (RA&W) for three years and served in Intelligence Bureau and Maharashtra ATS chief. Apart from this he was also the head of Central Industrial Security Force. His previous posts shows that his professional carrier has been full of responsibilities that made him fit for the post.
