Bengaluru Police Head Constable Dies by Suicide in dispute with wife, Alleging Harassment by Wife and Father-in-Law

Bengaluru Police Constable committed Suicide due to Family Dispute

Bengaluru: In a tragic incident, a 33-year-old police head constable, Thippanna Alugur, died by suicide on Friday night, reportedly jumping in front of a train in Byappanahalli.

After the tragic incident of Bengaluru techie Atul, another case has surfaced where a Bengaluru police head constable dies by suicide in dispute with wife and after being threatened by father-in-law. Alugur, who was posted at the Hulimavu police station, left behind a one-page death note alleging harassment and threats from his wife, Parvathi, and father-in-law, Yamunappa.

Allegations of Harassment by Wife

According to the police, Alugur, a native of Handiganur village in Vijayapura district, had been married to Parvathi since 2021. The couple had no children. In the note, written in Kannada, Alugur claimed that his father-in-law had threatened him on December 12, stating he should either “die or be killed” to allow his daughter to live peacefully. Alugur also mentioned a heated argument with his wife at their rented home in Electronics City on the night of the incident.

Events Leading to the Tragedy

On the day of the incident, Alugur worked his scheduled 8 am to 2 pm shift before returning home. Later that evening, after a dispute with his wife and a threatening phone call from Yamunappa, Alugur left the house. Hours later, railway authorities discovered that he had jumped in front of a moving train.

Police Investigation Underway

Following the incident, a case has been registered against Alugur’s wife and father-in-law under charges of abetment to suicide and criminal intimidation. Railway authorities alerted the police, and a team was dispatched to the scene to recover the body and gather evidence.

A senior police officer confirmed that investigations are ongoing. “The death note and initial findings suggest severe mental distress caused by the alleged harassment,” the officer said.

Broader Context

This incident comes days after a similar case in Bengaluru, where a 34-year-old software engineer, Atul Subhash, died by suicide, reportedly due to harassment by his estranged wife and her family. Subhash left a 24-page suicide note detailing his emotional turmoil and the impact of multiple legal cases filed against him. Police have since registered a case against Subhash’s wife and her family, and summons have been issued for their statements.

These back-to-back cases have sparked discussions around mental health and domestic disputes, particularly within marital relationships. Authorities have urged individuals facing such challenges to seek professional help and support.
