The gang used to take pictures of the victim man with the gang lady and then they used to threaten the man to implicate him in a false rape case and also to upload their pictures on social media.
Mumbai, the Ghatkopar police have arrested three people for extorting money from a 25-year-old stock broker by ‘honey trapping’ him. The police busted the gang a day after the offence was registered, and the police grabbed hold to the accused. One accused Shabnam Divekar is still on the run
“Till now, we have arrested three accused on the charges of 364A (kidnapping for ransom), 388 (extortion by threat of accusation of an offence punishable by life imprisonment of death) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC while few other accused are yet to be arrested,” said Jitendra Agarkar senior inspector of Ghatkopar police station as published by The Free Press Journal.
The gang were using social media to identify the potential victims and then they make connect with them and then call them to meet at hotel. After that the gang used to threaten the victim male of circulating false intimate photographs and filing false rape case. They also used to beat-up the victims.
In the stock-broker case, he met with an unknown women over drinks and then it was mutually decided to meet. On May 20, they both met near a metro station in the Ghatkopar area, and they mutually moved to a hotel. There they both had drinks and also established physical relationship. When they went out, outside there were five people who confronted him to go around with women.
“On Thursday evening, the duo met near Asalfa Metro station in Ghatkopar and went to a hotel room. After having drinks, the duo established an intimate relationship. Around 7.30pm, when they left from the hotel room, five men were already waiting for the stock broker and confronted him for going around with the woman. When he claimed that the woman was his friend, much to his surprise, the woman also joined them and accused him of raping her.”, as published by The Free Press Journal.
