This is a story of boy name is Shubham Gupta. Shubham Gupta, who lives in Jaipur, Rajasthan, belongs to a poor family. His father had a shoe shop in Jaipur, lived with his family and three siblings.

Keeping the family facing a financial crunch, Shubham’s father decided to open a shop in Maharashtra. There he also had to go in connection with some work, due to which he opened his own shop. He says that his sister’s school was far away from home and both had to go to school daily by train.

Shubham did his early studies from Rajasthan but later he did his further studies from Maharashtra. When Shubham was in class VIII, he went to Maharashtra with his father. He has been hardworking and intelligent since childhood. He completed his further studies in commerce. Shubham says that when he was studying in 10th standard. Then people advised him to study from the science field. But Shubham wanted to pursue his studies from the commerce stream from the beginning and he chose this stream further.

He passed high school and intermediate examinations with good marks. After basic education, he came to Delhi and tried to take admission in Shri Ram College of Commerce but couldn’t make it. Later completed his graduation and M.Com from some other college. Referring to one thing about his father in an interview, he says that when he was young, his father told him that I want you to become a big officer one day. This word of father completely sat in Shubham’s mind. He started preparing for UPSC.

Shubham informed that when he was studying M.Com his father expressed his desire to become a collector. This word of his father got stuck in his heart. He started preparing for UPSC. Shubham took the UPSC exam for the first time in the year 2015 to fulfill his father’s dream. But he couldn’t clear it due to lack of proper preparation.

After this, he appeared for a second attempt in the year 2016. This time he cleared the pre, mains and interview examination. He got 366th rank in this examination. This gave him an opportunity to serve in the Indian Audit and Accounts Department. But Shubham was dreaming bigger than this post. He wanted him to become an IAS officer. He did not despair and kept working hard. Again he gave the UPSC exam in the year 2017. He scored very poorly in the UPSC exam for the third time. This time he could not even clear the prelims exam. In this way, Shubham could not get a good rank in the UPSC exam for 3 consecutive years.

Shubham tells the students preparing for UPSC that along with studies, they should also be connected to society. Social media, internet, newspapers and news channels etc. should also be seen. At the same time, NCERT books should be read thoroughly.
