Mumbai: Woman constable arrested in colleague’s murder

The woman constable had plotted the conspiracy to kill the colleague, the deceased had also been accused of sexual harassment

On September 9, a woman constable and two others have been arrested in connection in Mumbai for a murder of a 54-year-old policeman who lost his life in a vehicle collision last month in Navi Mumbai’s Panvel. As per a official information given on Thursday. Police hero Shivaji M Sanap was hit by a car near the Panvel railway station on the night of 15 August, leading to his death.

Police started investigating from the murder angle after doubt raised by the deceased’s wife. In this matter, Sanap’s fellow constable Sheetal Pansare (29) and two of his accomplices were arrested at the Nehru Nagar police station in Mumbai, the police official informed.

When a team of Panvel police started inquiry, a senior police inspector Ajay Kumar informed that the CCTV footage has been checked and was found that on August 15, two men were chasing Sanap from Kurla railway station.

He said the investigation revealed that there was no good connection between Sanap and Pansare and on Pansare’s complaint, an FIR was registered against Sanap for sexual harassment in 2019.

According to the police, the arrested accused Vishal Baban Jadhav and Ganesh Laxman Chauhan, during interrogation, revealed that Pansare hatched a conspiracy to kill Sanap and tried to show him an accident case.
