Top court directed centre towards welfare of migrant works, who suffered heavily due to imposed lockdown. Honourable court has issued directions to ensure relief for the unorganised workers. States has been directed to implement ONE NATION ONE RATION CARD soon.

In a Judgment on Jun 29 (this year), the top court said that centre cannot go away from its duties to feed migrant workers, especially during a pandemic, just because they did not own a ration Card.

“There is large number of such migrant workers who do not own a ration card. Their above disability is due to poverty and their lack of education. The state cannot abdicate it’s duty towards such persons, especially in the times of pandemic where large numbers of migrant workers are not able to get job to satisfy their basic need”, in the judgement.

The Apex Court has also setup a dedline of July 31 to ensure centre and states that no migrant worker among 38 crore should go hungry throughout the pandemic in imposed lockdown.

Justice Bhusan has also marked a statement saying that states and territories must put extra efforts to reach migrants so that no one goes denied by two meals a day.

Court further added that Right to Food is necessity of one’s life living with dignity. So it’s government who should effort in making every labour getting meals daily.
