Life imprisonment to wife, her lover and two shooters in Yogesh Batra Murder mystery

Nearly after five years, Yogesh Batra murder mystery gets solved. Yamunanagar District and session judge Deepak Aggarwal sentenced the wife and her paramour to rigorous life imprisonment.

Yogesh Batra, a resident of Sector-17, Jagadhri, was a plywood factory owner, who died on the night of 27 May 2016. Yogesh’s father Subhash Batra performed last rituals and cremated him without postmortem believing the daughter-in-law who said that he died of a heart attack.

Later after few months, Yogesh’s father found some evidences, indicating murder. Then his father filed a complaint to the Superintendent of Police. The city Jagadhri police had registered a case under several sections including murder in the case.

After the orders of DGP, SIT of Karnal Police was formed to investigate the matter. The SIT then collected circumstantial evidences such as mobile location and based on the evidences, the Karnal police arrested the deceased Yogesh’s wife Priyanka, Rohit, his accomplices Satish and Shyamsundar. During interrogation, the accused accepted that they wanted to make him unconscious while he was asleep but they failed. Then they kill him by suffocating him by pressing his mouth and nose.

Police’s investigation also revealed a relationship between Priyanka Batra and Rohit. Rohit was a gym trainer in the gym where Priyanka used to go. Both had planned to kill Yogesh to get him out of the way and killed him.

The court of District Sessions Judge Deepak Agrawal has sentenced his wife Priyanka Batra and three other to rigorous life imprisonment and a fine of Rs.60 thousand.

Deputy District Attorney Sanjeev Kumar said that he placed all the evidence before the court. Based on vital evidence and witnesses, the court convicted the four and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
