After the government of India shown no interest to bring her back, the the mother of the said woman citing ‘womens rights’. So the question arises here that, should a woman by ‘using woman card’ be allowed even after been involved in a crime or terrorism or highly radicalised. The woman said, she will come to India, if she will not sent behind the bars.
As per the media report, the four women left India to join the Islamic State in Khorasan Province (ISKP) with their husbands and it is also reported that most of the men were killed in the different attacks in Afgan. After that the woman and several others surrendered and are currently in jail in Afghanistan.
One of the four women has a four-year-old daughter and her grandmother is fighting to bring them back with the child, citing ‘women’s rights’.
“As per human rights a woman has the right to come back and she can face all the legal proceedings, including a trial, here. This is disappointing, at least my four-year-old granddaughter should be rescued,” Bindu, the mother of one of the four women, told the media as quoted by The News Minute.
It is also reported that, these women left India between year 2016 to 2018 to join ISIS with their husbands. Their husbands got killed in different attacks. Along with these women, several other surrendered before the Afghanistan government in the month of November and December 2019. One of these four women, Nimisha, got married to Bexin, a resident of Palakkad. Then she accepted Islam and named to Fathima, and they left India along with almost 20 others to join ISIS.
Indian Agencies investigated the matter, said they are ‘highly radicalised’.
“One line of thought was to allow them to come back and become approvers in the cases here. However, their interview revealed that they are highly radicalised. The France model may be followed and the Afghanistan authorities can be requested to put them on trial there,” The Hindu quoted an official as saying.
In March 2020, Stratnewsglobal.com published a video of these four women were identified as Sonia Sebastian alias Ayisha, Raffeala, Merrin Jacob alias Mariyam and Nimisha alias Fathima Isa. The Interpol issued red notices against the women on India’s request.
In the video, Fatima said that, if she will not sent behind the bars, she will come to India.
“I’m confused (about returning back to India. Basically I can’t depend on anyone. On my husband or my family and stay for a long time. I definitely need income. In Da’esh, the widows and orphans will be taken care of and money will be provided for them every month, without getting remarried… of course, I can’t say that I want to live in Afghanistan, this is not my place. India was my place, so if they will take me, if they won’t put me in jail and I’m not oppressed, then I would want to go back to India.”
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had also filed a charge-sheet in 2017 against a group of 21 people including men and women from Kerala, and one Sebastian was also named in the charge-sheet. They left India in year 2016 in batches to join the ISKP.
