Maharashtra’s Ruturaj Gaikwad has scored his third consecutive century in the tournament, opening the possibility of selection in the Indian team for the tour of South Afon.

The T20 series between India and South Africa is going to start on January 19. Both the teams will play three matches in this series. Leading Maharashtra, Ruturaj scored 124 runs in 129 against Kerala with nine fours and three sixes at the Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Ground in Rajkot on Saturday. Earlier in the tournament, against Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, he had scored 136 runs in 112 balls and 154 runs in 143 balls respectively.

24-year-old K Ruturaj Gaikwad now has 414 runs in three innings and with every passing game, he is further cementing his case for the upcoming South Africa ODI series for which the team has not been picked. He is one of the top-ranked contenders.

Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 635 runs for Chennai in IPL-2021. Based on this opener, CSK won the fourth IPL title. Gaikwad was the player to win the Orange Cap due to this brilliant performance. He was even retained by Chennai along with MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali ahead of the mega auction.
