Asia Cup T20 tournament postponed from 2021 to 2023, due to surge in Corona cases and strict lockdown

The Asia Cup T20 tournament will now be held in 2023, due to the lockdown, the Council has postponed the 2021 tournament.

The The Asian cricket council (ACC) on Sunday officially announced and postponed the 2021 Asia cup T20 tournament to 2023. As per the cricket officials the date is yet to finalise by the cricket committee. Initially the Asia cup 2021, which was scheduled to be held in Pakistan and then it was moved to Sri Lanka but finally due to surge in the corona cases led to the cancellation of this tournament.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) was established in year 1983 with a motive to promote the sport of Cricket in Asia.

The Asian Cricket Association also issued a statement saying, “The board had considered the matter very closely and had finally reached to the decision that postponement of this tournament would be only fair decision that would go in the favour of the association and team”.

ACC further added that, “It would only be possible to held in 2023 because another tournament is already scheduled in the year 2022”. This tournament is held in every two years.

“However, ACC tried all the possible ways to conduct this tournament at any cost and was also in regular touch with the stakeholders and the participants to conduct it this year, but unfortunately it was not possible”, Asian Cricket Association added further.

Safety-first was a top priority in the entire decision and was welcomed by the coaches and teams.
